Bilang Siklista
2024

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Bilang Siklista bicycle count builds on city and citizen efforts to gather vital data on bicycle use. This ongoing exercise in data collection and monitoring helps track trends, assess the impact of current investments, and identify areas for improvement, giving us a clearer view of changes over time. By providing essential insights, this initiative enables governments to make informed, data-driven decisions that support sustained and expanded investment in bike-friendly infrastructure and programs.

This year, Bilang Siklista mobilized 1,269 volunteers to count cyclists in 18 local government units (17 cities and one municipality) across 138 count locations on a peak four-hour window.

The data to be presented include bicycle counts from the 18 local governments, insights on cyclist gender distribution, helmet usage, trends compared to 2023, and bicycle volumes along national roads, specifically focusing on areas with designated bicycle lanes. This data provides valuable insights into the role of cycling in each city’s transport landscape, helping to inform and assess programs, projects, and policies that support cycling as a sustainable mode of transport.
